It also reminds me of Dick Waugh, for whom I had considerable respect.
Dick worked entirely on improving the prevention of hearing loss caused by noise exposure.
Now, with the retirement of Warwick Williams and Lyndal Carter, the balance has shifted very much to work on hearing aids”.
NAL staff seconded to NHAS in 1991. (l to r Wal Phelps, Michael Soliman, Gary Hardy, Teck Loi, Phil McAllister, Barry Clinch, Con Kakatsos). NHAS was a joint partnership with Bernafon to design programmable hearing aids. NAL were the only hearing aid provider in the world to offer such sophisticated technology as standard. In 1995 a high-powered programmable hearing aid was introduced and exported in large numbers by Bernafon.
